There are said to be over 88,000 different yoga postures or yoga “asanas.” Asanas are categorized into groups having similar physiological and, or energetic benefits. Certain combinations of yogic exercises also have a therapeutic purpose. This workshop series will focus on specific groups of yoga postures or therapeutic intentions for asana. Join senior Sangha Yoga Teacher, Kara Aubin, as she share these educational workshops.

Class Descriptions

Neck & Shoulders
Our daily lives demand a lot from our upper bodies. Most people experience occasional tension in the neck and shoulders. Many people experience discomfort on a regular basis. Millions of dollars are spent every year in the USA on chiropractic care and massage therapy to assist in allievating pain in the neck and shoulders. This workshop is aimed at offering simple yogic exercises to empower us to reduce our own pain and prevent future discomfort in the neck and shoulders.

Lower Back Care
Many of us have stiff or achy lower backs. Some low back discomfort is caused by tightness in the hips; other’s is caused by weak core stabilizing muscles.Pinched nerves cause by ruptured or herniated diskscan also cause low back pain. No matter why your back bugs you, come to this class for low back care.

Core Power
The Core: your center, your foundation, the place from which we move, the place that we return to again and again. Join Sangha Yoga senior teacher, Kara Aubin, to explore how we can deeply strengthen our core, access the power already present there, and learn move from that centered place. This two hour workshop will explore, pranayama, bandhas, as well as asana. (some yoga experience suggested)

Kara Aubin, RYT 200

Kara Aubin has been discovering yoga since 1998, and teaching since 2002. She brings 15 years of movement experience as a modern dancer to her mat along with study through Iyengar, Ashtanga, Kundalini, and Para Yoga. Kara completed the Para Yoga Foundations Teacher Training with Karina Ayn in 2004 and completed her 200 hour RYT training in 2009. Kara find both peace and joy in the yogic overlap of movement (action), and a one pointed mind (attention). Kara specializes in working with beginning yoga students and athletes. In a nurturing and vibrant manner she helps people discover what they CAN DO in yoga pracitce. Kara's classes provide a safe, structured format, with attention to clear verbal and visual instruction. She offers both group classes and private sessions at Sangha Yoga.
