Sangha Yoga Director, Karina Mirsky is a supporter of Odanadi Seva Trust, a pioneering anti-trafficking organization based in Mysore, South India, working for the rescue, rehabilitation and reintegration of trafficked women and children. For the past 20 years Odanadi has been committed to providing a safe haven for survivors of human trafficking, sexual exploitation, slavery, domestic abuse and destitution.
On 3/10 Sangha is raising money to be sent to Odandi on International Yoga Stops Trafficking Day.
Here is how you can get invloved:
- Drop off a finacial donation to Sangha anytime before March 10th, 2012. Checks can be written to Sangha Yoga, (allowing for one single donation to be mailed to India)
- Join Sangha Teachers on Saturday March 10th at Sangha for a donation based class at 2pm. All donations will benefit International Yoga Stops Trafficking Day.

Human Trafficking Facts
- Three million children are currently involved in India’s sex trade.
- In 2007, there were thought to be more than 27 million people trapped in situations of modern-day slavery.
- Human trafficking, as an organized crime, is approximated to generate 32 billion revenue each year.
- Every day in India 200 women and girls enter prostitution and 80% of them do so against their will as victims of trafficking.
- The 2007 U.S. Trafficking in Persons Report states that India’s ‘trafficking in persons’ problem is estimated to be in the millions (90% of which is internal).
- The 2004 report by Shakti Vahini confirms that Karnataka, where Odanadi is located, is one of the major trafficking-supply states.
