Solstice is derived from two Latin words: "sol" meaning sun, and "sistere," to cause to stand still. Because, as the summer solstice approaches, the noonday sun rises higher in the sky on each successive day. On the day of the solstice, it rises an imperceptible amount, compared to the day before. In this sense, it "stands still."
Religious traditions from around the world gather in celebrations linked in some way to the summer solstice, the longest day of daylight in Northern hemisphere. People gather in gratitude for the midsummer harvest, singing, dancing and feasting. Astrologically, it's is also a powerful time for self-reflection and goal setting.

In this multi-media online event, Karina will use videos to enhance the experience. We'll chant the Gayatri mantra to awaken the light within then drop into meditation. Once the microcosm (body) is attuned with the macrocosm (universe), we'll do some empowering personal reflection, creative journaling, and group sharing.
